NYARC is pleased to announce that all of the Frick Art Reference Library Photoarchive’s research database records created since 1996 (and all future records created both for the existing collection and for new acquisitions) may now be accessed via NYARC’s online catalog Arcade.
If you're like me and on a computer all day long, you look for searching short-cuts whenever possible. Now you can save yourself a click by installing NYARC catalog search plugins for Firefox and Internet Explorer. These plugins allow you to search the NYARC catalogs using the search box on the top right of your browser. They'll save you a click and speed up your searching.
In June 2009, Arcade was added to artlibraries.net – Virtual Catalogue for Art History. Artlibraries.net, formerly known as the Virtueller Katalog Kunstgeschichte (VKK), provides access to over 8 million bibliographic records for periodicals, conference papers, festschriften, auction catalogues, exhibition catalogues and much more.
Arcade is the outcome of a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that targeted the development of a powerful online catalog to provide a strong foundation for moving ahead on multiple initiatives. Arcade unites the collections of the Frick Art Reference Library and the libraries of the Brooklyn Museum and The Museum of Modern Art, three of the founding members of NYARC.
The NYARC libraries have a long history of collaborating on projects, dating back to the 1980s and the establishment of the Art Museum Library Consortium. The collaborative efforts of the Art Museum Library Consortium resulted in the retrospective conversion of the Brooklyn Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston card catalogs into an online format.
Since NYARC was formed in 2006, the members have been involved in a number of initiatives. Past and current initiatives are listed alphabetically below. Please follow the links below to learn more.
